Check with us how to install wordpress iis
WordPress hosting is dominated by Linux based platforms which mainly use Apache on Nginx setups. But if you want to run a website from a Windows or VPS computer, IIS is probably your best bet. While some adjustments need to be made, you can easily run your WordPress instance in less than 30 minutes.
Where is it worth starting?
Start by creating a new directory for your WordPress site in the default location for IIS websites (usually C: \ inetpub \ wwwroot ). Download the latest WordPress package from the official website and extract the content into this directory. We also need to grant write / read permissions for IIS to the wp-content directory so that WordPress will be able to save and modify files (e.g. when installing plugins or uploading files). Right-click on the site directory and open Properties. Go to Security and click Edit. Then set the modify permissions for IIS_IUSRS (IIS user group) and IUSR (IIS default user). Then open IIS Manager and create a new website on the server instance. You can do this by right-clicking Sites in the left pane and selecting Add New Website. Enter the desired website name (it is only for identification in IIS) and indicate the physical path to the directory we just created. Then enter the hostname from which your site will be accessible. This can be a domain pointing to an IIS machine or a virtual host created for local development in the system’s hosts file. Confirm by clicking OK.
